Working in the field of communications since 1987, REM’s principal, Bob Madey, is a New York based  media maker & educator with a background in filmmaking, anthropology, behaviour change communications & cross cultural education.

Bob’s commitment to media as a tool for change and his deep capacity to successfully work
within & across cultures has led him on a journey around the world. He has worked with a range of clients; universities, corporations, government, arts, community, and UN organizations that include; National Geographic, Scholastic Inc., the World Health Organization (WHO), Teacher’s College / Columbia University, (GAVI) the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, UNICEF, Peace Corps, University of the South Pacific (USP), the Helen Keller National Center, the World Bank, to name a few.

Bob’s broad experience  developing and designing strategic communications multi-media  includes producing documentaries, promotional & corporate video, visual ethnographies, and  oral histories, teaching media production and  media literacy, as well as developing, and producing  educational & behaviour change multimedia tools (Video/CD/DVD). 

He has received grants to pursue his work from the IAA, Experimental Television Center, AUSAID, AE Ventures, Pacific Leprosy Foundation, the University of the South Pacific ( USP ), amongst others. His programs have been screened at US and international film festivals. They have been distributed and broadcast in the US and internationally, and can be found in the libraries of universities across the US.   

Bob received his BS, Communications from Ithaca College where he studied film and anthropology , and he completed his graduate work at NYU, MA, International Education, focusing on Media Literacy and the Near East. In 1999, Bob returned to New York after completing a 3 year residency as a university lecturer/producer at the University of the South Pacific, Fiji. While consulting for a variety of clients, he continues to produce his own documentary projects.
